What started out to be a very challenging year for the ladycat basketball team surely ended as an eye opener. The team started the year off with only one starter from the previous years playoff team, London Hardcastle. With her was Lindsey Davis who was out the year before with a knee injury, the team was really looking sour defensively. During mid season the team added on Amanda Rowe and a few weeks later Kourtney Kimbrell who were also two starters from the previous year. With a playoff bound team the girls had a little cleaning up to do defensively, with a hard loss from Coolidge the girls were sat down and were given a pep talk. Coaches told the girls it's now or never. With a good look in the mirror, and a weekend to think about the situation, the girls came to practice the next Monday with a mental focus some would not believe. |
Ending the season with an amazing fight with a tie breaking game in Whitney against Aquilla for the 2nd seat in district, the Ladycats lost; but none to fret, the cats were still in the game. The cats to play the Walnut Springs Hornets, would show an amazing will and want to win. Coming out hot and ready to pounce, the girls flamed the hornets, busting out the seams with defense. The 2nd quarter the girls kept the pace up but started to slip, and by half time the cats began to flare. Starting guard Amanda Rowe was sick with a stomach virus, yet fought hard to stay in the game. In the end the fight was lost. The girls did what any coach could ask for giving their best 32 minutes on the floor. With an amazing come back at the end of the season the girls showed an outrageous amount of heart, and in the end that is what being a Bobcat is all about. Congratulations ladies on a good season. |
